Senior heading west to shoot hoops

Senior Alexxus Gilbert signed a NCAA Letter of Intent to play basketball at California State University Bakersfield on November 12, 2014.

 

Although prepared to take on the next stage of her life, the 5’8” guard seemed surprised about her accomplishment.

 

“I never really saw myself going this far,” she said.

 

As a junior, Alexxus was named the District 12-4A MVP after helping lead her team to a 28-4 record during the 2013-2014 season. She has also been a member of the All-District Team since her freshman year.

 

Alexxus may be anxious about going away to California for school but she is willing and able to take on the challenge.

 

 “I feel like I have to step up to another level and hold up my end of the deal,” she said.
