---BA Track & Field competed in the Eddie Payne - Carter Shootout at Jessie Owens Memorial Complex on Saturday March 25th.

 

Ty Williams Competed in the Men’s Varsity 100m dash placed 4th in his heat and 5th overall with a time of 11.14 seconds. Angel Jaquez, and Isaiah Brown ran in the Men’s Junior Varsity 100m dash. Jaquez placed 3rd in his heat with time of 12.35 seconds. Brown placed 5thnin his heat running a time of 12.73 seconds.

Landon Carter competed in Men’s Varsity 200m dash against 25 other athletes, placed 11th overall, and ran a time of 23.75 seconds.

 

Julian Soria and Ernesto Silva competed in the Men’s Varsity 400m dash. Soria was just a foot in front of Silva running 58.27 seconds and placing 4th in his heat. Silva placed 5th in his heat and ran his 400m in 58.70 seconds.

 

Erick Sandoval, Carlos Escobedo, and Ernesto Silva ran the Men’s Varsity 800m. Sandoval placed 1st in his heat running a time of 2minutes and 6 seconds. Escobedo placed 6th in his heat running a 2 minutes and 8 seconds 8oom. Silva placed 7th in his heat and ran a time of 2 minutes and 20 seconds. George Ibarra ran the Men’s Junior Varsity 800m dash placed 6th with a time of 2 minutes and 33 seconds.

 

Damian Hernandez, Erick Sandoval, and Christopher Anaya ran the Men’s Varsity 1600m run. Hernandez placed 4th overall with a mile time of 4 minutes and 46 seconds. Sandoval placed 8th and with a time of 5 minutes flat. Anaya placed 14 with a time of 5 minutes and 25 seconds. Rodriguez, and Chavez ran in the Men’s Junior Varsity 1600m run. Rodriguez placed 8th with a time of 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Rodriguez placed 9th with a time of 5 minutes and 39 seconds.

 

Damian Hernandez Julian Soria, and Christopher Anaya competed in the Men’s Varsity 3200m run. Hernandez running with a sore clave and back placed 8th with a time of 11 minutes and 12 seconds. Hernandez said “feels like a wasted opportunity but what can you do when running with injuries.” Soria placed 9th with a time of 11 minutes and 30 seconds. Anaya placed 12 with a 2mile of 12 minutes and 19 seconds. Chaves represented BA by running in the Men’s Junior Varsity 3200m. Chaves placed 3rd with a time of 12 minutes and 14 seconds.

 

Luis Galaviz competed in the Varsity Men’s Shoot put against 8 other athletes. Galaviz placed 8th overall throwing 38 feet and 7.5 inches. Jerry Avila competed in the Men’s Junior Varsity. Avila placed 13 throwing 1 feet and 7.25 inches.

 

Luis Galaviz and Albert Vasquez competed in the Men’s Varsity discus. Galaviz placed 8th throwing the discuss 79 feet and 5 inches. Vasquez placed 9th and threw 68 feet and 3 inches. Jerry Avila, and Gerardo Guillien competed in the Men’s Junior Varsity discuss. Avila placed 9th with a throw of 76 feet and 9.5 inches. Guillien placed 14 with a throw of 61 feet and 11 inches.

Rodriguez placed 8th with a time of 5 minutes and 30 seconds. Chavez placed 9th with a time of 5 minutes and 39 seconds.

Galaviz competed in the Varsity Men’s Shoot put against 8 other athletes. Luis placed 8th overall throwing 38 feet and 7.5 inches. Jerry Avila competed in the Men’s Junior Varsity. Jerry placed 13 throwing 1 feet and 7.25 inches.

---BA hosted the annual Cougar Relays track meet at Jesse Owens Memorial Complex on February 18, 2017.

 

Albert Vasquez participated in the men’s discuss and shot-put. Albert’s seed on the Discuss is 44-04 and on the shot-put his seed was 24-10.50, and during the cougar relays he crushed his PR (personal record) and it is now 31-09.50. He placed 14 out of 27 athletes.

 

Women’s 3200m run included the varsity and JV athletes filled with 27 athletes. Lorena Cervantes and Jacqui Gonzalez raced in the 3200m. Cervantes placed 3 out of 27 athletes and Gonzalez 21 out of 27 athletes. Cervantes was 20 seconds away from her PR. The men’s 3200m run consisted of 35 athletes and three of them were BAs Christopher Anaya, Alex Chavez, and Damian Hernandez. Christopher ran a 12:27, Alex ran a 12:42, and Damian ran a 10:49 placing 2nd on the race.

 

The men’s varsity 110m hurdles was ran by Carlos Escobedo in a time of 16.84. In tough completion Carlos just barely missed a point for the team and placed 6th out of 12 athletes. Carlos said “it was a tough race close, almost had next time I’ll get them.” Carlos Escobedo also competed in the 300m hurdles Varsity. Placed 8 in his heat and 9th overall. Running 42.46 seconds.

 

Shraven Holly, and Ta’moria Reed ran the Women’s 100m run varsity. Shraven ran in heat 2 against 7 other athletes and placed 2nd on her heat with a time of 12.94 sec. However overall the 4 heats she placed 6 out of 27 athletes because the beat her time. Ta’moria was right behind Shraven and placed 7 out of the 27 athletes with the time of 13.05 sec. Tai Williams competed in the men’s 100m dash varsity. Tai Williams ran against state qualifiers and placed 7 out of 40 athletes, ran a time of 11.23 seconds. Isaiah Brown, De ’Ante Polite, and Christian Nava ran the 100m dash JV.  Isaiah ran a 12.58 sec and placed 5 on his heat. De’ Ante ran a 13.14 and placed 6 out of heat also. Christian ran a 13.29 and placed 4 out of heat.

 

Aleah Washington ran the women’s 400m dash Varsity against 30 other athletes. Aleah placed 11 out of 30 ran her 400 in 1:02.76. Ernesto Silva ran the 400m dash Varsity. Ernesto competed against 37 and placed 20th and ran a 56.34. Miranda Contreras ran the 400m dash JV. Beat her PR by 13 seconds. Miranda placed 17 out of 48 athletes and ran a 1:15.14.

 

Aleah Washington, Shraven Holly, and Ta’moria Reed ran in the women’s 200m dash varsity. Ta’moria placed 2nd in her heat and ran a 27.02 which placed her 8th OA. Aleah ran in heat 3 placed 3rd and ran the 200 meters in 27.79. Shraven ran in heat 2 placed 5th and finished her race with a 27.58 sec 200m. Tai Williams and Landon Carter ran varsity in the 200m dash. Landon ran in the first heat against 7 other athletes. Landon ran the 200m dash in 24.26 sec and placed 8th. Tai ran in heat 3 and placed 2nd. Tai ran a 23.32 seconds and placed 2nd and OA placed 9th out of 34 runners.
