If you are one of those people who loves to find new places to eat close to BA I have just the place for you.  Alfonso’s Italian Restaurant is a great small Italian restaurant that is just minutes away from BA. In fact many of our students and alumni work there.

Just off Buckner Road, in the White Rock area, Alfonso’s is very easy to find if you are unfamiliar with the area. It is located on the corner of the shopping center making it very easy to find a parking spot. Since we went on a Friday night it was a bit crowded and there was a short wait, about five minutes. The service was really friendly and attentive, from the moment we got there until we left.

The environment of the restaurant is very cozy, since it is a pretty small place. I would classify it as casual-mid fancy. It would be great for a special intimate occasion where you want to go someplace nice but not too too fancy. Alphonso's has a very classic decor with tables in the middle and booths that surround them. We were seated in a booth. They were a bit uncomfortable since they were a little low and stiff.

The menu is excellent. They offer a great variety of pastas, pizza, chicken, and seafood. When you order they bring you complimentary garlic rolls, which are really good. I ordered the lasagna and it come with the house salad. My companion ordered spaghetti and meatballs with a ceasar salad. The waiting time was pretty reasonable, about 10 to 15 minutes or less.

The quality of the food was good. I ended up trading salads with my friend since it had sliced tomatoes and the house dressing was too sour for me, but my friend said it was good. The Caesar Salad was really good, and a good size.  The lasagna was a bit dry buit had a good flavor. My companion said the  the tomato sauce in the spaghetti and meatballs was was just right.

The prices were reasonable. I paid $14 for my meal, plus tips. Overall I would give it a 7. It is a really good place when you are looking for something more private and smaller compared to the other popular Italian places like Olive Garden. The service was great even though it was a bit crowded. All in all I would recommend Alphonsos. I will definately visit again because the garlic rolls were really that good. And I want to give their pizza a try!
