Bryan Adams High School has graduated tens of thousands of students. Some of these students have gone on to be journalists, doctors, athletes and even teachers. Some are more well-known than others.
Bob Phillips, class of 1969, is an author, journalist and host of Texas Country Reporter, a weekly syndicated television program about Texas travel and tourism. He graduated from SMU and while attending college in 1972, Phillips started working on 4 Country Reporter a precursor to Texas Country Reporter on KDFW, Channel 4. Phillips also writes books about all things Texas. He also teaches at Amberton University in Garland. In 2007 Phillips married Kelli Adkins, KFDM TV anchor from Beaumont. They moved to Beaumont, where the couple currently resides.
James "Jim" Dauterive, class of 1975 is most known for the popluar tv show, King of The Hill's which he's not only the executive producer of, but also the namesake for the show's character Bill Dauterive. Dauterive also wrote some of the shows episodes, including "The Son That Got Away," "The Company Man" and "To Sirloin With Love." Jim also developed and produced the Fox television series Bob's Burgers. Jim Dauterive has won 1 Primetime Emmy Award for "Outstanding Animated Program" with King of The Hill in 1999 and another Emmy of the same catergory with Bob's Burgers in 2014. He's also the lucky recipient for the Writer's Guild Award.
Lincoln Coleman, class of 1987 is well-known for being a Dallas Cowboy's running back. Coleman's football career started in 1993 when he had a short stint with the Dallas Texans, an Arena football team. From there, he went on to play for the Cowboys, his most notable football position. His career as a Cowboy ended just two seasons later, in 1994. It was in 1994 when Bryan Adams retired Coleman's jersey. In 1996 he played for the Atlanta Falcons, before being drafted to the Milwaukee Mustangs in 1997, where he stayed until 1999. Coleman's career ended with the Grand Rapids Rampage's Arena football team when it went out of business in March of 2010.
Kenyon Martin, class of 1996 is a power forward for the NBA. Martin was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1977 and attended three high schools in four years, BA being his last. He was inducted into the Bryan Adams Hall of Fame in 2009. He attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 2000. After college he played for New Jersey Nets and the New York Nuggets. In 2011 he played in China for the Xinjiang Flying Tigers. After a short stint with the LA Clippers he landed with his current team, the New York Knicks. Martin has received several awards including NBA All-Rookie First Team in 2001 and NBA All-Star in 04'. "K-Mart" also created The Kenyon Martin Foundation which provides for families in need, especially those living without a father figure. A few organizations that recieve grants include the Colorado HAWKS (Hard at Work Kids) for the disadvantaged, The Salvation Army and Martin's alma mater, Bryan Adams High School.
