In a non-district game against a very good Celina team Bryan Adams struggled to keep up as the Bobcats played old school football and kept tacking on the points. The final score was 59-28.

After coming off a convincing season opening 45-12 blowout against Roosevelt, the Cougars headed north to Bobcat country on Sept. 4th. Bobcat Field is an intimidating environment for any Celina opponent. The eight-time state champions have a legendary following. The stands are always packed with Celina loyalists and it seems as if everyone in the small town of  7,000  showed up for the game. The thing is, that’s how it is for every Celina home game.

The start of the game gave BA a shot of confidence with a 68 yard pass from XaiyViyon Mccuin to Nathan Stewart for a touchdown. It was mostly downhill from there. Two of BA’s much needed defensive players, Abel Dominguez and Perry Martin, were hurt on the first defensive series. After that the Cats went to work scoring five unanswered touchdowns before the end of the first quarter making the score 35-6.

The second quarter got even worse for the Cougars as they were unable to stop Celina from tacking on 17 more points before the half. One bright spot for the boys in Kelly Green was a 13 yard touchdown pass from Mccuin to Jimmie Odie. It was going to be a long night for BA and it was only half time. The score sat 52-12.

The Cougar defense showed a lot of fight in the third quarter keeping the Bobcats out of the endzone the entire period. BA, however, did score in the third with a 26 yard run by quarterback XaiyViyon Mccuin .

The fourth quarter was all about pride for the Cougars as they just had to keep fighting no matter what the scoreboard displayed. The Cougars allowed a 9 yard TD run to start the quarter but came right back and answered with a 66 yard bomb to Nathan Stewart from Mccuin.

It was a tough night for the Bryan Adams Cougars but like the school motto they displayed a lot of tenacity. Now, however, it's time to put the loss behind them, regroup and reflect.

The next game is on September 10 against Seagoville who beat the Cougars in a tough fight last year.
