Ceramic Cougar
BA gets new homemade artwok
By ANFERNEE BEE, 12
Last week a large artwork created by Ms. Sanders’ art students was mounted in the stairwell by room 218. The piece is of a Cougar face. The ceramic Cougar is made from broken glass and tile. The students worked it most of the 2013 – 2014 school year.
The piece sat on the floor in the stairwell over the summer and for many months. The work is extremely large and heavy. Improperly mounted the piece could pose a risk if it fell on students passing in the stairwell. Two DISD maintenance workers were assigned the task of safely hanging the Cougar to the wall.
The Ceramic Cougar is a sight to see. This piece of art was a dedication to the seniors of 2013-2014 school year. The ceramic Cougar is a very large, overwhelming piece of art that really shows Cougar spirit.
Officer Garcia who is typically stationed at the end of the freshman hallway noticed it for the first time recently.
“It’s an interesting piece. You know though, it seems to have more blue than green,” he said.

The latest edition to BA culture and spirit. You can see the piece in the stairwell by Ms. Murphy's classroom.
The artwork is large and heavy. It required professional mounting in order for it to be safe for students.
