The choir is busy this fall. The varsity girls have two concerts. On December 3rd they will be preforming at the Casa Linda Tree Lighting ceremony. Then on December 13th they’ll be at North Park Mall. It’s a great opportunity to see the BA choir preform during the holiday season.

Ms. Kiger, the BA choir director, sponsors two varsity choir teams. The varsity girls have 26 members. Last year some of these girls went to compete at a UIL solo and Ensemble and earned superior and excellent ratings. These standout girls are Jessica Childress, Stephanie De La Torre, Leslie Ikwuagwu, Crystal Salinas, Unique Stewart and Victoria Velasco.

The varsity boys have 10 members, a mixture of beginners and advance singers. Some of the varsity boys have also gone to UIL Solo and Ensemble and received excellent ratings as well. These boys include Elias Almitano, Marcelino Vazquez and Jose Lopez. Two members Elias and Marcelino are also both performing in the musical “The Fantasticks” that will run from November 19-22 in the BA auditorium.

At the start of every period Ms.Kiger does piano vocal warm ups with the class. After they start to sing Mrs.Kiger goes back and corrects areas that need adjustment like the pitch or timing.

On December 18th the choir is having their annual Winter Show at BA. The choir, Band and orchestra are preforming Christmas themed songs.

This year the choir room was relocated to the Lower Tardy Ln from the Chemistry Hall. The move has both poitives and negatives according to Ms. Kiger.

“I like that the room is right in the middle of the school, less students have to get tardys. But what I don’t like is that there is no more room for all my things,” she said.
