On December 18, BA held their annual Fine Arts Dept. Christmas Concert. The show included performances from the BAnd, orchestra, choir, theatre dept., and the JROTC Armed and Unarmed drill teams.

The performance began promptly at 7 pm with the Concert Band. After playing “Happy X-Mas (War is Over) by John Lennon, the curtains closed and all eyes were on Ms. Mitchell and the orchestra. Their performance included “Deck the Halls” and “Terra Nova”.  They were later joined by the choir for “Christmas Sing-A-Long,” a medley of popular Christmas songs.

The Varsity Women’s Choir then sang “Christmas Pop Trio” and an A Cappella version of “Carol of the Bells”. After this, the Cougar Company Theatre entertained the crowd with their skit “Villains Caroling,” which was about twelve dwarfs who tried to ruin Christmas, but Santa came to the rescue.

Once the curtains opened, the audience was surprised to see that the BAnd changed into their green and white striped uniform. As they played a marching band version of “We Need a Little Christmas,” the JROTC Armed and Unarmed drill teams performed a special routine for this song. After the curtains closed, the Cougar Theatre Company yet again entertained the crowd with “12 Days of Christmas.”

A select group on BAnd kids then presented “Kawf Dooda Code,” a novelty percussion ensemble that didn’t use any instruments. The crowd was then entertained by the Green Cat Jazz Band, who performed well known Christmas songs, such as “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Two Front Teeth”. They also performed “(Everybody’s Waitin’ For) The Man with the Bag,” which featured vocalist Jessica Childress.

The choir then took the stage with their performances of “White Christmas” and “Sing We Now of Christmas”. After this, the band closed the concert with their performances of “Pat-A-Pan”, “Celtic Carol”, and “We Wish You a Mambo Christmas”.

“Overall, I believed the concert was very successful. It had a wonderful turnout,” said Junior Stefan Velasquez.
