Katy Perry stopped in Dallas on October 2 and 3 to perform her two sold out shows at the American Airlines Center. A mechanical horse, flying emojis, and dancing mummies were all part of the concert. It was a very magical night at the Double AC with the whole arena full of light and energy from her fan base the “Katy Cats”.

Katy’s tour name “The Prismatic World Tour” had a stage that had a section named “The Reflection Section”. This section was a pit for her fans to be closer during her performance. On the main stage there was a huge triangular screen that projected the concert. Many people who attended had crazy outfits and colorful wigs that added to the festive atmosphere.

Katy hit the stage with her song Roar, the first single off of her album Prism. During the performance she wore a dress with lights surrounding her and her dancers danced with their triangular light spears. During the first section she sang her single Part of Me and Wide Awake in which she stood on a triangular platform that went up and rotated.

Following the first three songs, Katy welcomed everyone and said, “We will not let fear ruin our fun tonight”, referring to the outbreak in Dallas of the Ebola Virus that same week. Next she kicked it off with two songs off of her new album, This Moment and Love Me with laser lights all over the arena.

After the first set Katy sang her famous song Dark Horse. She was dressed as Cleopatra riding a mechanical human horse. During this song the audience danced and jumped with the beat of the music. After that, she kicked off with E.T. in which she elevated in to the air followed by her first song ever, I Kissed a Girl where she twerked with female mummies on stage.

Later she came back on stage on top of a yarn ball dressed as a pink cat singing a jazz version of her hit song Hot N Cold with her dancers dressed as cats. After that jazzy performance she sang her song International Smile mash up with Madonna’s song Vogue. During this performance she did a small runway fashion show wearing cat food, milk, and fish bones ending it with her getting drenched with “milk”.

After the first three sections of her show, Katy did the acoustic set. For this part of the concert she interacted with fans, taking selfies and talking with them. During the set she sang songs like By the Grace of God, The One That Got Away and Unconditionally while wearing a dress with butterflies all over her.

Finishing her acoustic set she dressed in an 80’s inspired theme with smiling faces and flying across the pit while singing her song Walking On Air and It Takes Two while being rotated on a platform with a ying yang dress. After that it was her latest hit This Is How We Do with floating emojis including the famous poop emoji all over the arena.

When the performance was over Katy came out wearing a palm tree inspired outfit singing her famous hits Teenage Dream and California Gurls with neon colored lights that made her costume stand out. After leaving the stage she came back to perform her first encore, Birthday. For this performance she wore her “birthday suit” and brought a fan on stage whose birthday was very close. During the performance she flew with her big balloon harness all over the arena while confetti exploded into the audience.

Finally the lights dimmed, everyone started to leave the arena thinking the concert was over. Instead, the stage lights came on and Katy came back one last time with a firework dress to perform her last song, Firework. She ended it singing the song while fireworks were set off on the stage.

Katy Perry’s spectacular concert brought a lot of joy and excitement to her fans and made their night unforgettable. I know it was something I’ll never forget.
