Dreams can have varying natures, such as frightening, weird, exciting, magical, melancholic, and adventurous. They range from normal and ordinary to overly surreal and bizarre. Dreams are successions of images, ideas, emotions, and sensations that occur involuntarily in the mind during certain stages of sleep. An average person can have up to 3 to 5 dreams per night, or even up to 7. A dream is defined as a “sequence of sensations, images, thoughts, etc., passing through a sleeping person’s mind.

Dreams do have its own actual meaning depending on what you dream of. Which is why dream dictionaries exist. For example if you dream that your teeth is sparkling or gleaming signifies happiness and fulfilled wishes. If you dream of having flies in your house then things have gotten bad at home. Some people have dreams that they can’t even explain.

In our dreams, we can go anywhere, we can be anybody, and we can do anything.  When we dream, we are like passengers on a moving train, unable to control our actions and choose our surroundings.  We let our mind take over.

“I was at my childhood home and it seems like it was in the middle of the day and all of a sudden it gets really dark. And I see a bunch of nooses. And then I run outside and it starts raining blood. There’s no one around me and all of the houses seem abandoned. This would happened a lot while I was in middle school.” Eva Channel

A nightmare is an unpleasant dream that can cause a strong negative emotional response from the mind, typically or horror but also anxiety, despair, and great sadness. The dream may contain situations of danger, discomfort, or physical terror. Suffers usually awaken in a state of distress and may be unable to return to sleep for a prolonged period of time.

“Three years after enlisting into the army, AS a PFC in a war in Korea I was in a small platoon on a cliff cornered by Korean communist ... After we ran out of ammo the entire platoon of 30 men were sent to their knees as the young Korean Lt began executing down the line of men, being one of the last men in the line I had a little time to think my last thoughts, A few people in my life I held close popped into my mind and before I knew it an enemy round was sent through my skull.” Thomas Jennings
