Finishing the Fight!

The Bryan Adams yearbook, El Conquistador, was completed and sent in for production on March 28th after many months struggle and work. The book features sections on student life, sports, and academics which we all will remember. All sections are encompassed by the yearbook theme of "leaving your mark." The inspiration behind the theme is explained by the editor an chief Alexia Tovar, "We chose this theme because this year the class of 2016 and the school and general has been super involved with many areas of school. In a way everyone has made their own mark on BA and we wanted everyone to remember that."

Some of the many challenges the staff faced was getting students to participate through interviews and pictures. "It may be because they had a stranger asking them questions." said senior Sabrina Mares who created multiple spreads in the book. Writing the copy (the captions and short paragraphs) also proved to be a struggle for the staff. "I felt like it was a big responsibility, and had to be done well." said senior Mario Mendez. Afterwords however a huge weight was lifted from the staffers shoulders immediately, after spending days and nights ensuring the deadline was met.

But the pressure wasn't gone for long, selling the book is the next hurdle. The yearbook staff is volunteering to advertise the book during lunches and school functions. Large posters have been plastered around the school to keep the yearbook in everyone's mind.

The El Conquistador yearbook has been around since 1957, and this years edition is following that tradition. The 2015-2016 book has 176 pages, which is a smaller book when compared to the 400 plus paged books from the 1970's. All 176 pages are jam packed with content for students by students, and is selling for $65.
