Boogie back to BA

BA alum returns to teach Dance I

              BY MELISSA PEREZ, 10

Bethany Anguiano, BA class of 08, came back to her alma mater this year to teach Dance I. Dance 1 is a beginning dance class open to all students. She also helps Ms. Solorio with the Belles and the Kellie Spirit Dancers, a freshman dance team.

Ms. Anguiano shows patience with her students and demonstrates each step towards excellence in dance.

“She explains the dance steps very well. You can picture them in your head. It’s easy to learn because she is always energetic and always happy. It looks like she enjoys teaching,“ said Katie Fuentes, 10.

She was always interested in dance but she got more serious when she came to BA. After becoming a BA Belle her passion for dance grew. While a student at BA she was involved in CEO (Cultural Enrichment Organization), drama/theater, orchestra, swim team and NHS (National Honor Society).

Ms. Anguiano continued her passion for dance in college at Trinity Valley Community College in Athens, Texas where she became a member of their drill team, known as the Cardettes. Later she attended to Stephen F. Austin State University, in Nacogdoches.

She’s a very active person whether she’s working, in school or dancing.

While a student at BA Ms. Anguiano worked at a bakery at Town East Mall and at a gym for women. In college she worked as an office assistant, cashier and dance intern teacher for a local middle school.

“I always had a performance or activity I wanted to go to” said Ms. Anguiano.

Now she is back at BA teaching dance and so far she’s having the time of her life.

“It’s great! I love it! It’s amazing to work with students and it would even be better if they all would dress out! Haha” she said.
