On Thursday January 29th BA held its first annual powder puff game. The senior and junior girls played flag football against each other at Forester Stadium. The seniors won 15 to 7. There were 30 senior and 30 junior girls involved in this event. Coach Morrow was behind this first ever powder puff game.

“I started it.  I mocked it from Duncanville High School because I used to work there and we did it there. I think for the first time it went great.  Way more people came and participated than I expected.  I was very pleased,” said Coach Morrow.

The game was a success! A lot of people showed up to watch the girls play. Senior guys even performed for the crowd during halftime which were Oscar, Edson, Jacob, Jonas, Anthony and Alexis. Even though the weather was a little chilly, the players and people involved still managed to have fun and keep the game going.

“I thought it was a great game,” said senior Luz Rocha. “It was fun to get to play and be a part of the powder puff, it was great to see school spirit, the fans, the cheerleaders (the guys) lol and the half time show! I would say it had a great outcome and if I had a chance to play again I definitely would!”

Brandon Santana, Joseph Broadnax, Eddie, Romello Phillips, and Jalen Charles were the coaches for the senior team.  The coaches were junior team were Sam Malone, Kelin, Dexter, Avery, Fidel and Kyrek.

Brandon Santana, quarterback for the BA football team, got a taste of what it’s like to coach and be off the field on the sideline.

“First of all I loved it because I know that we won by a lot buuuuut the refs were giving bad calls and also it was hard coaching the girls, like suuuper hard lmbo,” he said.

Hopefully Cougar spirit keeps growing throughout the years to keep making this event successful!

“As long as I am here we will do it,” said Coach Morrow. “I think the girls had a great time, as well as the guy coaches and cheerleaders. It was fun and we learned some things to make next year better!”
