Tips for the perfect Prom dress

One of a senior’s most stressful days of the year will without a doubt be prom. Think about it, prom date, pictures,  getting ready ( which could take more than one day ) the outfit, after parties….. it's a hurricane of thoughts in your head! I'm here to help my fellow senior ladies make the process of finding that perfect dress a little easier. As prom season approaches quickly, there are a lot of things to take into consideration when choosing that perfect gown; color, length, style, coordinating shoes.

Let's talk color. The color of the dress ultimately is dependent upon one’s down to the skin color. Black is by far the easiest way to go because black is flattering on literally every skin color. it's slimming, it makes the skin color pop and is elegant! Let's say a girl wants some color, the renowned color wheel is the best option. The wheel selects a color that is best suited to compliment the lady’s skin tone, but ultimately she should choose for herself.

Next, let's talk length, style, and fit. Most girls dream of the long full length gown. Some may prefer a knee length or a full length with a slit. Then comes style. Open back, a two piece, v-neck, one shoulder. The possibilities are countless. We can't forget about fit! Mermaid, ball down, with a tail? It all depends on the body shape and how comfortable the lady feels in the dress. Confidence is key! If she doesn't feel like she can walk the runway the dress isn't the one for her.

Plan ahead. Trying to figure everything out in a month is super stressful, trust me I’m speaking from experience. I suggest planning at least two to three months ahead of the prom date to make sure everything is spaced out with time to change or correct any kinks. Also, YOU are the one wearing the dress. it's YOUR night, don't let others influence or discourage a dress that you truly love. Prom is once in a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Make it YOURS
