Lots Of Spirit

Senior students paint and bring color to the lots

Seniors were allowed to paint their own parking spaces this year. They had to pay $10 to be a part of this experience for their last year at BA. Coach Morrow saved about 50 parking spaces for students to paint.

Most put a lot of thought and creativity into their paintings, such as Leslie Martinez who filled hers in many different colors. She included her graduation class, friends names, her pride to be senior lieutenant of the Belles Drill Team and of course a green cougar paw print.

"I was happy when I found out we could paint our own parking spot because I know last years class wasn't able to," she said, "It made me feel like this year our class is going to be able to do a lot of activities".

Others painted their lots one solid color or just put their initials. Anissa Ruiz decided not to put much in her space. She painted a very unique design along the sides including a cursive "A" for her name in the middle. She also added her graduation class and her hand prints to finish it off.

"I felt great about being able to paint, it was fun and exciting being able to do that type of activity on my last year," she said.

Unfortunately Anissa and seven others will not be able to park in the spaces they painted.  The problem is that that there was a mix up and a few of the spots saved for the students were also being used for teacher overflow parking.  So even though, Anissa spent nearly two hours painting she is not able to park in her spot. She parks in the closest spot she can find. Of course those who were misplaced didn't have to pay the fee.

So even though some of the painters can't park in their spaces the seniors still had fun doing it and showing their school spirit.

Coach Morrow tried to correct the problem without success but the seniors understood and accepted it.

"Even though some of the kids were heartbroken everything turned out OK. Next year we'll know," she said.
