The Strain is a horror/drama television series that premiered on The FX Channel in July of this year.  It was great entertainment Sunday nights last summer. Currently the series is not available on TV but if you look hard enough you can find it on line.

This is a classic vampire show, like Dracula, except with a twist. Instead of fangs they use a wicked tongue, sucking their victim’s blood.  Then those people turn into vampires too. Another way victims can get infected is that the vampires have worms inside them and if the worms get inside another person’s body that person painfully turns into a vampire.

The film is set in New York City. During each episode the setting gets uglier and scarier. The sky becomes gloomy and trash covers the streets. New York was getting infested with vampires.

The show offers a lot of suspense. There are many pop outs that keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The vampires look really gross and scary. It creeped me out. The thought of it being in real life gave me chills. The costumes and paint looked very realistic.

Every episode introduced a new character. The story has many twists  that left me speechless. There is a master vampire which started everything. He is the boss of all the vampires. He is the largest and ugliest of them all. He wears a big black cape. He roams all around New York terrorizing people. The story is about trying to hunt him down and kill him to stop the vampire disease.

The show gets better each episode. If you’re the kind of person that loves horror and creepy things this is the show for you.  When the show ended it left me with a lot of questions. Luckily I it’s returning in 2015. The previews of the new season got me really excited. I can’t wait!
